The Project

In junior tennis, one number decides almost everything: your ITF world junior ranking.

Academies recruit on it. Federations select on it. University coaches award scholarships on it. And you can only earn it by flying to sanctioned tournaments and winning matches, which means the deciding factor in a young African player's career is very often not talent, but a plane ticket.

Helen is 12 years old, from Accra, Ghana. She is ranked number one in the country in her age group, has won six tournament championships, and represents Ghana. She has, in short, already won everything there is for her to win at home.

International junior tennis has an age floor: no player may enter an ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors event until their 13th birthday. Helen reaches hers in a year. This project funds the period either side of that date: the preparation that gets her ready, and the season that turns readiness into an international ranking.

The Pathway

Three Phases to an
International Ranking

1 Ready by 13
Building the Athlete

Full-time professional coaching, structured training blocks, strength and conditioning built for a growing athlete, and physiotherapy. She competes on the African regional junior circuit to test herself against the best on the continent, and her ITF IPIN registration is completed so she can enter events the day she becomes eligible.

⏱ The year before her 13th birthday
2 First Ranking Points
Onto the World Tour

Entry, travel, and accommodation for her first ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors events across Africa: Nigeria, CΓ΄te d'Ivoire, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Kenya, Rwanda, and South Africa, with a coach travelling with her. We stay within the ITF's annual limit for a 13-year-old; the point is quality of competition, not volume.

🎯 Goal: Helen ends it a ranked international junior
3 Academy Placement
The Professional Platform

A placement at the Anthony Harris Tennis Academy with full-time schooling on site. Daily hitting against better players, coaching at a level that does not exist at home, and her education continuing uninterrupted. This is the platform from which a professional career or a fully-funded university scholarship becomes realistic rather than hypothetical.

πŸ“… A 3–6 month placement
Campaign Goal
$0

This is the full cost of taking Helen from national champion to ranked international junior and into a professional academy: every flight, entry, coaching block, and safeguarding measure along the way.

Safeguarding Comes First

Helen is a child, and every part of this program is built around that. Her welfare is never traded for sporting ambition.

βœ“

She travels with a designated guardian at all times.

βœ“

Her schooling continues throughout, including during her academy placement.

βœ“

Her parents consent to and are consulted on every competitive and travel decision.

βœ“

Imagination Africa's child protection policy governs the entire program.

Beyond One Player

Helen is the first athlete through this pathway, not the last. The tournament calendar, the coaching relationships, the academy partnerships, and the safeguarding protocols we build around her become the template for every athlete who follows.

Ghana has never had a structured route from junior court to professional academy. This is us building one, with a player good enough to prove it works.
